You'll now see a list of Actions on your Impact Stack. Click the “Add Action” button ⊕ to make a new Action.

Give your Action a title and choose it’s Action Type which should be Petition for a petition.

<aside>

Action Types are starting templates for Actions. Use Action Types to set up sensible defaults for the kinds of Actions that you make most frequently. In most cases you will want at least a petition Action Type, but you may also want to add Actions Types for other use-cases that you have for Impact Stack.

You probably want to also create an action Page. This is selected by default. Impact Stack will then also create a page for your Action (the form) to sit on.

A quick note on the difference between Pages and Actions.

<aside> 📖

You can put an Action onto a Page, and onto many Pages. In other words, an Action is one of the pieces of content that can go on a Page.

An Action is made up of: 1) a Form, 2) a Thank you email, and 3) Free Tags that are applied to any supporter who completes that Action.

The same Action can be reused on multiple different Pages.

This makes it easy to have a sign-up form for your newsletter on lots of different pages with different content. You can also easily A/B test elements of your page content while keeping the same form and storing the data from that form all together.

Note: This is different to previous versions of Impact Stack, where every page had a form and every form was on only one page.
