Test Mode lets you check your action more thoroughly before your launch it with a special link. You can access the Test Mode link for an action on the ‘Test’ step at the end of the action editor set-up.

Why use Test Mode?
It’s a good idea to share a Test Mode link with colleagues who want to try out your action before you send it out to your supporters.
In Test Mode, when you submit a form:
- in email-to-target actions, your message is sent to the email address in the email field of the form submission rather than to the target(s) so you can see what email to MPs etc will look like in your own inbox
- the submission data is marked as ‘test mode’ in the exported data which lets you exclude it from your data analysis and CRM integrations
How to tell you’re in Test Mode
When you are in Test Mode:
- the web address in your web browser will have
/?ist_testModeToken= and a unique series of characters after it, eg /?ist_testModeToken=gw2J8gIxGpBrSxTdv_VhP
- a large notice at the top of the form alerts that you are in Test Mode
